2003-2008 - Queen's Award for Enterprise

Travel Counsellors was proud to be awarded the Queen's Award for Enterprise (2003-2008), the UK's highest business accolade. Travel Counsellors was the first, and is so far the only, UK travel agency to receive this award which was presented in recognition of its ground breaking working from home model, which enables experienced travel professionals run their own successful travel businesses by allowing them to concentrate on giving the best possible levels of service to their customers, with the support of a dedicated head office which takes care of all technology, administration, marketing and supplier relationships.

2008 – The British Travel Industry Hall of Fame

The British Travel Industry inducted chairman David Speakman as a new member at its prestigious 14th British Travel Industry Hall of Fame in recognition of his achievements and significant role in developing the travel and tourism industry. David was the original pioneer of the travel agents working from home concept in the UK with Travel Counsellors now the largest home-based travel company in the world.

2007 - Guardian Travel Agent of the Year

Travel Counsellors was named Travel Agent of the Year for a second consecutive year at the 21st annual Guardian, The Observer and Guardian Unlimited travel awards as voted by readers. Voting was rated on quality of service with Travel Counsellors scoring 98% overall.

2007 - The Outstanding Achievement Award

Travel Counsellors chairman David Speakman received the Oustanding Achievement Award at the 2007 Travel Weekly Globe Awards in London. Simon Ferguson, publishing director of the Travel Weekly Group commented, "David was a natural choice as a result of the phenomenal success of Travel Counsellors. He has created a new form of agency model, much imitated, that has proved both enduring and successful, and has transformed the experience of buying, selling and distributing travel."

2007 - The Accenture Innovation Award

Travel Counsellors received the Accenture Innovation Award for its ground breaking franchise agreement. The agreement clarifies its consultants’ self employed status, enabling them to take on their own staff and build up value in their business that they can then sell on should they wish to do so.

2006 - Guardian Travel Agent of the Year

Travel Counsellors was named Travel Agent of the Year at the 20th annual Guardian, The Observer and Guardian Unlimited travel awards as voted by readers. Voting was rated on quality of service with Travel Counsellors scoring a highly impressive 99.29% overall– the highest total percentage of any company in the awards.

2006 - Lifetime Achievement Award

Travel Counsellors chairman David Speakman was one of the first ever recipients of a travel industry Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2006 Agent Achievement Awards. He was recognised for being the pioneer of the travel agents working from home concept; recognising that experienced travel consultants could earn more, give better service and have a better work life balance by working from their own home, linked by the latest technology and specialising in giving their customers the highest possible levels of personal service.

2005 - Growing Business Awards/technology in business category

Travel Counsellors was delighted to receive the ‘Technology in Business Award’ at the high profile 2005 Growing Business Awards produced by Real Business and the CBI.
