Jamaica Mon!
Friday 26th March 2010

This winter I was excited to get somewhere warm and sunny...Jamaica. And, it did not disappoint!
I have travelled extensively, all over the world, on land and at sea, but I had never been to Jamaica before. This tropical bit of paradise has changed a lot and having been through various seminars and receiving feedback from clients, I was very curious to see how Jamaica has evolved. Jamaica is among the most popular Caribbean holiday spots and I certainly nwo understand why!
We arrived in Montego Bay in the early afternoon on a non-stop flight from Vancouver. The Airport was easy to get around, and both customs and immigration were easy to navigate - a brilliant way to begin any getaway!
I was one of 10 travel professinals from Western Canada visiting the island and planned to visit Superclubs (The Breezes Resorts and Rooms).
We were fortunate to stay at Breezes Trelawney for one night and then two nights each at Breezes Runaway Bay, Breezes Rio Bueno and Breezes Grand Resort and Spa Negril. The contrast between each resort was interesting; they each had their own style and flavour.
Breezes are not just All Inclusive, they are described as Super All Inclusive, which means that virtually all you do on the resort is included in the price you pay when you book.
The rooms were all lovely, cooled by air conditioning, spacious and comfortable. They were ideally located - no long hike to the beach! There was a nice variety of restaurants as well as the buffet. They all have a great Japanese Teppanyaki Restaurant called, Munasan as well as plenty of other options. There is no charge for eeddings or vow renewals (what a fantastic idea and a great way to celebrate an anniversary!) No tipping is allowed and even the Golf at Runaway Bay 18 hole Championship Golf course is free!
The beaches were simply breathtaking; the sunsets were spectacular, the sea was the bluest of blues and the people of Jamaica were friendly and accommodating.
I was lucky enough to see various parts of the Island as well as go to Dunns River Falls (not to be missed!) and go ziplining for the first time in my life at Mystic Mountain - it was a blast!
BEST FOR FAMILIES
I would recommend Breezes Trelawney for families, the childrens activities were great, they had theirr own pool and waterslide, the food was kid friendly and they even have a trapeze!
BEST FOR ADULTS
Runaway Bay is designed to suit Adults and Young people over the age of 14, it had a great beach and wonderful water activities (all free of charge). If you have your PADI certification, even Scuba Diving is free! The swimming pools were wonderful and the Wedding Gazebo (one of many choices you could get married at) was serene and beautiful!
BEST FOR LUXURY PLUS
Beaches Rio Bueno is lovely, you arrive at a lovely cobbled street which as an old Victoria Plantation feel about it. The rooms are divided into a block on one side where clothing is optional and on the other side a regular resort. Both sides have thier own beach and their own pool. The rooms were spectacular, large, comfortable and with showers to die for! We ate at the magnificent Piacere Restaurant, and the meal was delicious! I wish we could have had more time here.
BEST BEACH
Breezes Grand resort and Spa in Negril sits on one of the most beautiful stretches of Beach I have ever been on. The Resort has the most magnificent entrance way with running water wheel and cool marble everywhere, the food and the service was impeccable. The pool is not large but it is made up for by the fantastic beachfront. The rooms look out to the great 7 mile beach and it is close enough that you can hear the waves from your spacious room.
I was very sad to say goodbye to Jaimaca, I loved the place and the people and the music and the rum and the coffee and most of all the sun and the beaches! For your own perfect Jamaican getaway, give me a call or email me. I'd love to hear from you!
